Yes, I now own "A Gathering of Lace." It somehow makes me feel like a grown-up in the knitterly sense. I can imagine myself making at least three or four of the shawls in this book (once I figure out the charts, of course) - patiently and lovingly and then (maybe?) giving them to loved ones. Except one, which is totally reserved for me and I think might work up nicely in my Sea Silk. But that will be summer knitting I think.
But - the really cool bit? No, the REALLY cool bit! With the gift cards and my iRewards discount card, the book cost me... wait for it... two cents. Two shiny little pennies for one of the best-loved knitting resource books around. That completely made my day, even more than if it had been totally free (to me). I don't know why, but it was just really really cool. The cashier thought it was cool too but had no idea about knitting, poor girl.
Oh, and two more of the gals at the store want me to knit mittens for them, after seeing Alison's. Since these are students, I'm not charging them for knitting, they just have to buy the yarn. I'm interested to see what their choices are!
