Saturday sunshine

Well, the snow and ice and crud is (mostly) done falling, we're still getting intermittent snow showers but the sun is shining and it's not too cold out. Huzzah!

My paper is now at 831 of 2,000 words. I remembered this morning that the big pile of books on my desk with post-it flags sticking out was, in fact, reference material I intended to use in the paper. How I forgot that yesterday when I was bleeding out of my forehead (metaphorically), I don't know. But I'm making progress. Even so much that I decided to take the evening off and watch some TV with Peter and swatch for my new cardigan. Yes, his sleeve is underway but the dampness yesterday made small-needle knitting hurt my hands. 6.5mm is much easier on the sore joints than 4mm.

The cardi will be done in Patons Rumor, so I had initially selected the "Wednesday's Cardigan" from the "Wardrobe Essentials" book specifically for this yarn. Here's a picture from the book, done up in the Halycon Heather colourway (I'm using the Hibiscus Heather, which is a purply-maroon).

However, I then saw this Shawl Collar Cardigan over at KnitNet and thought it was a little more my style:

But when I swatched for it, the Rumour just won't work up to the same gauge as the LB chunky it calls for. So, I'm back to the original pattern, which I do like, but it's a little different than my ususal style. Peter likes the look of it, and it does look perfect for throwing over a t-shirt/golf shirt at the office. I am thinking about leaving off the collar though, and just having a round neck so my golf shirts can peek through. The sweater is knit in one piece and the collar picked up at the end so I think it would be "safe" to leave it off. Hard to say until I get rolling though.

But for the rest of today, it's time to change hats from student to work. Back to Michaels again, a long closing shift tonight. First I need to stop and visit Yumi and bring her the Fire Shawl, which will be a pleasant break in the day. Yumi time is good time. :)

And tomorrow, we meet with the bandleader about the wedding/reception music. Wow, that's coming up fast... less than three months, I'll be a married person. Wow.
