Maybe my switch of blog-template earlier this week was a premonition - all that green! My boss called me in for a little sit-down today to tell me in tangible terms how much I am valued by my company. Woohoo! Raise for Kathy!
Now, this isn't "buy a new car" raise. But it is "have pizza and rent movies more often," or even "buy yarn" (no, wait, I'm Knitting From Stash!). It's a bit more in my bank each week than it was before. But for me, while the extra $$ are nice, it's the really (REALLY) sincere appreciation I get from my bosses that makes the difference. And since things have been mega-stressful of late, it really helped today. It's funny in a way, because the increase is meant to reward last year's work, but I find it motivates me to work harder in the here and now. Because really, I want the same (or better?) next year. I want my value to the company to increase every year, otherwise why would I still be there?
So yeah, I'm feeling the corporate love today. Which is good, because well - yesterday I woke up to a total muscle spasm in my back and couldn't even get out of bed to go to work (owie owie ow!), and I was feeling guilty about that (not my fault, but guilt is part of my being, whatcha gonna do?). So before the $$ happy, my boss asked if I was feeling better today. And that was nice too.
Oh, and wedding update: Yumi may have a lead for me on a Stanley-cup-shaped wedding cake-making place. SCORE!! Yumi so ROCKS! Maybe if I ask her really nicely she'll take one of her lovely self-portraits wearing her new Fire Shawl, so I can post it here. Pretty please Yumi?
